Stereo Rehab

Great experience, start to finish. My 42 year old amplifier had a channel out, he put it on the bench and went over the unit, explaining what he was finding, identified the issue and gave me a price. A week later I got the message that the amp was ready to pick up and listed all of the work that was done and parts replaced. When I picked it up, it was all cleaned up and working as new and I was given all of the old parts that were replaced. He also cleaned all of the switches and controls and everything is smooth and clean. Very satisfied.

If you are searching for audio and hi-fi equipment repair, stop searching. I had an incredible experience at Stereo Rehab. I brought in my receiver thinking it had a major problem, but it turns out it just needed a professional cleaning. The owner, Kaspar, is extremely knowledgeable and—most importantly—honest. He didn't even charge me for the cleaning since it was a simple fix! It’s rare to find a shop with that level of integrity. The atmosphere is very friendly and the place is extremely cool (it feels like a vintage audio museum). Blake was also super helpful and friendly throughout the visit. Whether you have tube or solid-state gear, this is the only place to go in Chicago. High quality, honest work, and great people. Thanks, Kaspar and Blake!

What a GREAT find! I drove all the way from Indianapolis based solely on the reviews I read online and email correspondance with Kaspar ahead of time. I wasn't disappointed. I've been there twice and will go again. Kaspar did a great job diagnosing and repairing my Marantz 2270 (circa 1971) - bringing it back to life. His no-nonsense approach is confidence-inspiring. He welcomes you to join him as he puts the patient on the workbench and runs through a comprehensive series of tests and measurements. While his descriptions will be too technical for most to follow - it's an education in how vintage equipment works - and is SUPPOSED to work. As an added bonus, when I brought my older Marantz Model 22 (circa 1969) with me when I picked up the 2270 - he diagnosed a quirky problem that ended up being a transistor on the amplifier board. He even swapped out the lamps for new ones, aligned the FM and AM Tuners, adjusted bias and confirmed that it functioned properly - and handed it back to me - no charge. Great setting, great atmosphere. Blake welcomes you to the store and invites you to enjoy the lounge while you wait to take your equipment to the workshop. You can oggle all the beauti

Amazing and knowledgeable staff. Very welcoming and kind! Even though they do not work on surround sound receivers, they took the effort of diagnosing my receiver and gave me a solution to fix it. Definitely know their way around receivers and sound systems in general. Will go there again if I ever need help with stereo issues :)

This may be the coolest place in Chicago! Casper and Blake were super helpful and fixed the issue with my turntable while I hung out in their showroom blasting Jerry Garcia on their vintage JBL speakers. Highly recommend this place if you have retro stereo equipment repair needs!
